Folders
Please make sure you check your child's folder every day and take out the notes and papers. Review any work with your child and ask him or her what they did in school. Also, let your child know when he or she has notes to turn in to me. As part of our daily routine, the children are responsible for taking out their own notes and placing them in our collection basket. Communication You will receive a weekly newsletter. Badge books come home four times a year in Kindergarten: November, January, March, and June. Snacks In the afternoon, the students are given the opportunity to finish anything they have leftover from lunch. Students who eat hot lunch are encouraged to bring an afternoon snack to leave in their backpack. Birthdays Due to allergies, birthday treats may not be brought in to celebrate your child's birthday. If a student wishes to celebrate a birthday at school, there are many ways to do this that do not include food. Parents can send in stickers, pencils, magnets, notepads or small trinkets (the dollar store is a good source for these) to share with the other children. Parents can also donate a book in their child’s name to the classroom library or to the school library, or a board game to the classroom. Invitations for home parties may be passed out in class only if all of the children are invited. This is a school policy. Lunch The children have 25 minutes for lunch and 25 minutes for recess. If you did not purchase milk for your child, he or she may bring his or her own drink. Milk is available for purchase. Phone Calls If you call me during the school day, you will be given my voicemail, which I check at the end of the day after the students have left. If you have a message that needs to get to me quickly or you are going to pick up your child, let the office staff know. Pick-Ups If your child is going to be picked up from school rather than ride the bus, you must send a note or call the office before 1 PM. This does not apply to daily pick-ups. Clothing As winter approaches, the children will be wearing boots, snow pants, mittens, hats, etc. Please be sure to label all of your child's clothing with his/her name since we will have many identical items. Also be sure to buy winter wear that your child can put on independently. |
